BASTA! Sessions about LoB with UWP and Source Control with Git!

Hi developer,

this week I had two sessions at the leading independent conference in the German-speaking area for Microsoft technologies, the BASTA! conference. Thanks a lot for joining and making my sessions a wonderful experience for me, and hopefully for you too!

Find a link to the slides of both talks by expanding the talks 109. and 110. in the talks-section of this homepage.

Line-of-Business Apps with UWP

The first session was about line-of-business apps with Microsoft’s Universal Windows Platform. The room was packed with a lot of motivated and passionate windows developers.

Microsoft introduces several new features in the upcoming Fall Creators Update (FCU). You can check the features today by joining the Windows Insider program and installing the latest Windows SDK. Checkout this blog post on https://blogs.windows.com to find the latest SDK. The FCU supports .NET Standard 2.0, which means SqlClient and direct SQL Server access and a huge set of new APIs are available in UWP. Microsoft introduced also several other features required by LoB applications, like for example UpdateSourceTrigger-property on compiled data bindings.

Note that UWP is used intensively in Windows 10. It’s the strategic platform to build native applications for Windows 10+, and it can be the technology for your next line-of-business app. Find out more in this blog post about UWP for enterprise apps.

Git for .NET Developres

The second session was about Git basics and working with Git. From local repositories, to branches, tags, remote repositories and pull requests. The room was packed with 200+ people that are now ready to use Git.

Thanks for joining and take care,
Thomas
